Things to Consider

If you have not spent a lot of time at sea you may not know if you are susceptible to sea sickness, there are several precautions you can take to avoid seasickness: get a good night sleep, don’t drink a lot of alcohol the night before, don’t have more than one cup of coffee in the morning, eat a small breakfast and avoid acidic foods, and start drinking water right away in the morning. You may want to consider taking some over the counter sea sickness drugs such as Dramamine or Bonine.

Absolutely no illegal drugs or hard alcohol, a good way to end the trip before it gets going.

Warning: No illegal drugs allowed aboard this vessel in compliance with the United States Coast Guard zero tolerance policy. If illegal drugs are found aboard this vessel the boat can be confiscated from the owner and the boat captain’s license revoked.

The mate should receive a 20% gratuity of the cost of the charter.

If you have not spent a lot of time at sea be cautious about drinking alcohol or coming “hung over”, it can lead to a miserable day of sea sickness.

Please do not wear footwear with black or dark soles, this footwear leaves marks on the deck that may take the captain or mate an extra hour to clean at the end of the day.

The deck of the boat is wet, in cool weather you will be most comfortable in waterproof clothing and footwear.

The sea is no place for excessive drinking, please be responsible.

The mate will clean your catch for you, if you are visiting from out of town have the mate clean a fish or two for you and bring the fillets to a local seafood restaurant, offer the chef part of your catch and you may end up having one of the best meals of your life.

The average striped bass is a meal for 6-8, if you don’t know what you are going to do with the fish Captain Ken is an advocate of catch and release.
